True or False?

I am easily overwhelmed

1

Food sensitivities, bloating, irregular bowel movements, or sluggish digestion can be issues for me

2

A nervous system locked in flight or fight takes energy from the core of the body into the arms and legs. This impacts digestion by removing the fire needed to move food, liquids and even feelings through our core. Food sensitive, bloating, sluggish digestion where you feel full for a long time, and irregular bowel movements with pain, consitpation and diarrhea are all a result. Nervous system resets can be life-changing when you suffer any of these symptoms..

I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back to sleep, or wake up feeling unrested

I hold tension in my jaw, shoulders, arms, legs that doesn’t let go easily, even with stretching and rest

Overwhelm is not always a result of too much happening in too little present space or time. It does not simply mean we are unequipped to meet a situation. Often, it is a lingering emotional response from a past situation that wasn’t resolved somatically, through the body or the nervous system. It is often associated with a trauma response that is locked into the bodymind. This impacts your ability to “deal with” present situations. Cranial work is one way of undoing these loops.

There are so many causes of sleep disturbances, but the solutions can be simpler than we realized. In addition to working with diet and supplements, we can work with the soma (body-mind) to address the lingering experiences that keep our minds looping and our souls unable to settle.

Physical tension is a response to stress that, over time, we come to think is normal. It impacts the flow of energy through every organ system and cell and, when not addressed, has consequences beyond soreness, poor sleep and inability to enjoy some beloved activities. Cranial work unwinds tension at the root, restoring health, vitality and resilience. It gives you new choices for how to move and even how to eat, digest, and related to others.

A few more questions….

I get sick easily

1

The immune system is intimately connected to the nervous system, hence the growing field of psychoneuroimmunology. Western medicine and clinical studies are finally catching up with ancient wisdom. They are creating the systematic research to show the indelible relationship between our thoughts, our nerves and our immunity. Cranial work offers an integrative, gentle, non-invasive treatment for all three systems.

I sometimes get skin rashes and am sensitive to scents, soaps, detergents and other main stream products

2

The skin is a primary organ of defense for the body. Its health and resilience is not to be taken for granted. A nervous system that has been triggered by stress over time, an inability to settle or deep, often un-named sense of “not being safe” will start to show up in skin sensitivity or rashes. They can result from chemicals in our cleaning products, food, and homes, from a virus, an infection or other external irritant, but the root cause is an overwhelmed nervous system that is stuck in fight or flight.

I suffer from various symptoms when it’s that time of the month

3

The reproductive system, like the digestive and the immune system, suffers when the bodymind is in fight or flight, be it an acute response or a gradual response to stress over time. The endocrine system manages the adrenal glands, the hypothalamus and the pituitary glands along on axis or chain of response. So reproductive hormones suffer. This shows up in discomfort or other more extreme sensations as you cycle through the month. Fertility and infertility are impacted by this as well.

I put others needs in front of my own when I am uncomfortable speaking up. I often don’t even realize it

4

When we don’t feel safe, we shut down. Whether it’s our body, our. thoughts, our will, creativity or voice. We do what we believe we need to do to keep ourselves safe. With time, we don’t even realize it. The incredible wisdom of the bodymind normalizes our survival strategies. But as life unfolds, the great task is breaking free of the restrictions we once put in place to stay safe. Cranial work and other forms of somatic therapy are an incredible tool to streamline this journey.
